Why Traditional Diets Fail



Have you tried virtually every diet you can think of, but still looking for one that works? Why is it that so many diets fail? A lot of people still believe the myth that drastically reducing your food intake will result in weight loss. The truth is that when we go on a low calorie diet we could actually gain weight instead of losing it. As humans we are designed to read less food intake with starvation. When we intentionally deprive our bodies of food we send our body into starvation preservation mode.

Studies show that thin people tend to eat have diets that contain lots of complex carbohydrates (such as veggies, pulses etc) and individuals who are overweight consume diets that contain more fat and simple carbs. We need to fully understand how our bodies work in order to create a successful weight loss program. One of the best ways to lose weight fast is to observe a low carb diet where you control just how much carbs you take in in a day, but don’t worry too much about the other foods. You should however make sure you don’t overeat, by carefully managiing your portion sizes, and make sure you get the right combination of healthy and nutritious foods which are also low in saturated fats.

The weight gain is largely a factor of lifestyle and eating habits and the weight gain was not over night but took years to accumulate. Because gaining all that weight happened over time, you should allow some time to get back to your normal weight. People who don’t understand the balance between a healthy diet, getting lots of water, getting regular exercise and getting proper amounts of sleep are easy prey to the “weight loss gurus” pushing the current fad diet, lose weight pill or quick weight loss diet. It’s not hard to find these fad or celebrity weight loss plans and diet pills. Because we’ve been brought up to want and expect everything delivered to us yesterday, it is easier to believe that there is a magic pill, drink, or program that can take the excess weight off quickly, than to believe that we have the capability to re-structure our lives and have a much better life where being overweight is in the dim and distant past.

Diets are doomed to failure because they do not show you how to create a balance within your body. Diets will fail because some are designed towards making the promoter or some company rich rather than creating a product or system that will genuinely aid a person to lose weight.

We hear everywhere that people who are obese are more likely to succumb to diseases and other serious health issues due to excessive body weight. Too much fat in your diet is a major contributor to surplus body fat.

People have been taught for far too long that they need to drastically reduce their food intake or count every calorie they consume in the hope that they will lose weight. In reality our bodies know how to manage weight if we give them what they need to stay healthy - like getting enough sleep, drink plenty of water, wholesome and nutritious foods, and daily physical activity.

Losing weight is not all about watching what you eat, you should also not overeat. Proper portions of healthy foods are vital to losing weight. Another key to losing weight is not leading a sedentary life but one that involves giving your body the daily physical activity that it craves. Our bodies were made to move!
